He was born on 12.11.1977 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Prof. Dr. Altan Varol graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2001 and entered the PhD program in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diseases and Surgery of the faculty in the same year. In 2007, after completing his thesis on Evaluation of Synovial Microvascularization with Power Doppler Ultrasonography in Degenerative Joint Patients Undergoing Temporomandibular Joint Arthroscopy (Consultant: Prof. Dr. Selçuk Basa), he completed his military service in Ankara Gülhane Military Medical Academy between 2007-2008. Between 2007 - 2011, he worked at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diseases and Surgery as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altan Varol, between 2011 - 2016 as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altan Varol and between 2016 - 2021 as Prof. Dr. Altan Varol. He worked with the title of Prof. Dr. Altan Varol. Since 2021, he has been working as the Head of the Department of Oral, Dental, Maxillofacial Diseases and Surgery at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Dentistry. Since 2010, we continue to provide services in the fields of correction of jaw deformities (orthognathic surgery - distraction), jaw and facial fractures, jaw joint disorders and treatment, sleep apnea, oral implantology, zygomatic implants, jaw cysts and tumors and temporomandibular joint surgery in our hygienic practice equipped with high technology in Ataşehir. During his career in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diseases and Surgery, he has made 8 poster presentations, 21 oral presentations and 45 publications. Prof. Dr. Altan Varol; He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (2014), European Society of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery (2011), Istanbul Chamber of Dentists (2010), Balkan Association of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery (2010), American Association of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery (2009), AO/OSIF Craniomaxillofacial Section Association (2009-2016), International Association of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery (2003), Turkish Association of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery (2001). In 2003, he won Marmara University Publication Incentive Award, in 2004 Marmara University Publication Incentive Award and in 2008 Marmara University Doctoral Days Thesis Publication Award.
